Mark category/forum read

Options
How do I make sure only the topics I haven't read are highlighted? I keep clicking on 'Mark category/forum read' but it doesn't seem to make a difference - it was just on 'Freebies - no spend required' but now it's on all of them.

    Mark category/forum read'

Category is just the section you are in.
    Forum is all the sections.

You using these buttons will mark all as read.

If you want to leave unread highlighted, then do not use the buttons.

I have a problem with the gardening forum, when I mark category read within the forum it does not work. I have to go back to the main page and mark it read there

I think it's mostly fixed now, except for a certain post about survey sites - the 'Anyone duped by TopSurveys? one - it keeps saying it was updated on 4 July and I've not read it yet, but when I click on it there's only one post there and it's from the end of June.

Hi @Gizmo72  - it sounds like you are seeing the 'auto-bump' feature in action - see here for a fuller explanation:

    Hi @millie

I think I can guess what's happened there.

We updated the name of that board, but the old name is cached in your settings.
(The 'Mark Read' is an add-on that was updated specially for us because it's not compatible with our layout - so it's not as robust as it could be).

I've whipped up a quick fix. Use the link below. You should see a red button just below the 'Hide Menu' buttons.
Clicking that will update the setting in your browser:

But that just says it's always at the top - not that it's always highlighted whether you've read it or not, or if there are no new updates.
Edit: Now I'm getting the same thing in my notifications - it keeps saying I've earned the 'Name Dropper' badge, but no matter how many times I click on it the '1' doesn't disappear - is that one of the problems mentioned at the top of the home page - or is it the Cloudflare verification one, which I have had a lot of problems with in the last few days?

The '1' has now disappeared - it turns out I hadn't clicked on the notification that someone had replied to my post.
