John Lewis credit card - rewards reducing

If you’ve still got your Partnership Card and want to shop at John Lewis, they are offering extra points this month - 15 per £4 in store, 10 per £4 online. It’s supposed to offset the reduction in points for the rest of the year! So they offer it in August when more people are away? Not convinced. But if there’s a purchase you’ve been planning, now might be the time.1

They should do something like give free forex spending to make it more appealing.
I'm a frequent Waitrose/John Lewis customer but everytime i consider their credit card, they make the offering worse.1

Barclaycard's Amazon and Avios (convertible to Nectar at parity) products are worth a look. 0.5% is possible with either; albeit with catches.ab101 said:So now the benefits have ended what card are people switching to?
I had a look at the rewards cards on MSE at the time the email came out but don't want an AMEX and already have a Nationwide CC with fee free international use, everything else seemed quite rubbish.
Santander's Edge CC was very good but has been nerfed and is now only quite good if you spend £800-1000 per month - (it works out as 0.6% if you spend exactly £1000).
The best long term 'on everything' straight forward not time limited non-Amex cashback rate is, of all things, The Co-operative Bank's members card - but I can't say 0.3% particularly excites me.

Is 1 point worth 1p? 3.75% isn't exactly generous when you consider the availability of discounted giftcards (Airtime Rewards and Perks at Work have them for 4%, various workplace versions might have better discounts).

We have had JL credit cards for a long time. We didn't like the transfer to New Day (low credit limits and too short a time from statement to direct debit etc) but we keep the cards as we still get 5 points for every £4 spent at JL and Waitrose which equals 1.25%. (as far as I am aware that is the current deal).[Deleted User] said:They should do something like give free forex spending to make it more appealing.

We don't use them anywhere else as we have other cards with interest free periods and/or better cashback.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".2

You can do better than 1.25% by purchasing discounted giftcards.0

I'm trying to remember to switch everything to my Amazon Barclaycard, but keeping JL for JL purchases. Will see if it feels like the Amazon card is worth it. I think I've got £5 from 6 months, but I wasn't really paying attention to the deal when I opened it - can't remember why I did to be honest.
But I guess I'll just accept that the years of credit card benefits are over. Maybe check in every few months in case there are any deals to be had. I've got £65 of JL vouchers to spend, which I'll probably spend on something boring like a 3000 thread count bed sheet.0

You'd be better off buying JL giftcards using your Amazon Barclaycard. (Presuming you're OK with relying on JL customer service and not having to resort to Section 75...)1
