Paint colour suggestions please.

I want to decorate my lounge but Im struggling with colour. At the moment I have 3 pale grey walls (yes, I know!) a dark grey chimney breast and 2 brightly coloured floral wallpaper alcoves.
I want rid of the wallpaper and the grey and want to go for a green all round. Trouble is, finding the right green is a problem.
The room is quite large but oblong rather than square and it has a window on the front and on the side. I have white wooden blinds but despite having loads of natural light hubby is always closing the blinds because the sun shines on the TV. he is disabled and home all day so I cant really object too much.
Because of this I don't want to go too dark with the green but I don't want a bright green either. I keep seeing photos of rooms with nice 'sage' greens but when I look at the options instore and online none look suitable.
I don't want to pay Farrow and Ball prices but at the same time I don't want something that looks cheap and tacky. I also want a silk finish.
Has anyone any suggestions from their own experience please. If I can get suggestions then I will go and get some samples. Thank you

I've surprised myself but I love 'duck egg' (very light turquoise) in my living room, and now my bedroom too. it's nice and bright and looks good in sunlight and artificial light. Mine's just Wickes' own brand. I've bought the tougher washable one for new house in same colour0

Following along because I'm also interested in a good green for my living room! I have Crown Mellow Sage in a bathroom and Little Greene Normandy Grey (a green-grey) in a bedroom but I would prefer something a bit fresher for the living room.0

Thanks for the replies. I quite like some of the Wickes greens on the website but they dont have samples you can order in the colours I want. May take a trip down to the nearest store tomorrow and have a look.
Mellow sage sounds the sort of thing I am looking for but when I look at it on th website it looks exactly like the shade I have on my walls now and they are grey. Just shows that colour is not an easy thing to replicate on a screen or photo.0 -
Dulux Willow Green - light and not in-your-face bright0

Get some pieces of white card and some sample pots. Paint the cards and then you can move them around the room to guage the effect the external light has on the different shades. Many green paints use a grey base and will look different according to where the light source is - light from N-facing windows tends to bring out grey/blue tones. Brighter greens may have a yellow base."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.1

Curious about your choice of silk finish?0 -
Curious about your choice of silk finish?
I was going for silk as that is what is on at the moment and I like the fact that it reflects the light. Thinking it through now though Im thinking that as I am going from a very, very light grey to a more mid green I may be better with matt.
I want a kind of vintage look to the room as Ive been collecting bits of furniture from the freecycle sites and doing them up and so want to incorporate a couple of those in place of a couple of more modern bits I have.
Im even more confused and undecided now!
Im also wondering if I should try using an electric spray gun to do the walls. Anyone have any experience of using one? I have a brand new one which I got with the intention of using it on the garage and shed but Im wondering if it may be ok for the internal walls.1
