Look back to basics, if you can't afford to pay your debts stop paying them, it is that simple.
    Hi,

does this affect renewal of passports etc? Ours is not due yet but the kids will have to renew soon
As has been explained a few times, debt in this country is a civil matter, not a criminal one.

You don`t get watched from parked cars, nor checked up on at the airport, nor does your mail get opened using a kettle, the authorities have zero interest in your financial affairs, its between you and the specific lenders.

Unless you see bank reps standing outside supermarkets armed to the teeth, you will be fine.

Ignore them , delete their number, take no notice of texts, phone calls and E Mails, delete all numbers any creditor uses just open any letters you receive by snail mail.

This is normal but remember you are in control now not your creditors

    Hi,

received another mail from another creditor. Getting antsy.. and then stepchange say to just give the client number if they ask from my previous chat exchange with them. Is this Normal? Do i have a choice as to who i can just pay off first? Im maintaining my credit union of course.

If you are self managing then you pay who you want what you want.

Is it a letter sent through snail mail? If so what does it say.

If it's E Mail or text just delete it and the number it came from.

Remember you not keep in contact with them.

Its standard computer generated collection activity, expect to get letters/phone calls/texts/emails etc from creditors asking you to contact them.

This is perfectly normal, you haven`t made it clear whether you are self managing this or using stepchange?

Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I have been advised here by some to do self managed dmp rather than stepchange. Is that a good option? I have cancelled DDs to everyone.

Is self managed dmp better than using stepchange?

Bearing in mind this should only be a short term DMP just until you leave the country no problem you doing self managed but the best solution as we have suggested a number of times is only to pay the credit unions, just stop paying all the other unsecured debts and save as much money as you can so you don't need to get into debt in the Middle East.
