Change New Sky Broadband Router SSID before FTTP connection?

I am getting Sky FTTP broadband next week and have had the router delivered.

I will be changing the Sky SSID to what I have presently to save the hassle of changing all my devices and computers.

Can I do it without the FTTP connection or should I wait until I actually have a working broadband connection?

I would wait until you have the FTTP connection.
Last month I was in a similar situation to you.  I had configured the router in advance but when the router was connected, an update reset all my settings.

I always change the SSID of the router before the service is available, to ensure a smooth transition later.

I have a separate WiFi access point, so the SSID doesn't need updating!
Although I might need to buy a new AP at some time, I've been using this one for a decade or so and I think it's only 802.11n

You can do it now no problem, it's just a bit more effort as you will have to switch back to the old router in between.

    probably wasting your time.

It's good having one (main) device to be able to communicate with the router on its default settings, incase it needs a reset it future.

I've lost count the number of times support ppl have asked me to reset my router in the hope it will fix something unrelated

They keep increasing the number of characters a password needs to be (is it 12 or 13 now?), so you many not be able to do what you want to anyway! may need to Think of a new password
