Mobile broadband in Maldon, Essex

I'm moving to a retirement flat in Maldon in a few days and the owner has said through the letting agent, that I can't install fibre if it makes permanent changes to the property. If he thinks a quarter of an inch hole counts as changing the property, I suppose mobile broadband will be my only option. I've looked at the service maps of Maldon and it looks pretty dire on the High Street, with some some providers seeming to only be able to provide 3G or 4G. O2 seems to be the least bad, but still only 4G. Is mobile broadband even a practical solution in Maldon? Anyone know when 5G will be available there?
Sorry it's such a specific question.
Thanks.

The owner needs to be realistic given its the year 2025. Get it installed and tidy the hole up, without sounding morbid they only find out about it once you shuffle off.0

LOL, yeah, I only want to be there for a year or two. I'm 66 but people say I look around 50, so I don't plan on completely winding down just yet and I've got a couple of ideas to make a bit of money so I can retire somewhere a bit spectacular. You would think giving his flat fast fibre would make it more attractive to future renters.la531983 said:The owner needs to be realistic given its the year 2025. My eldest kid had the same problem in a student flat; the landlord wouldn't let them get broadband installed. Not ideal for a let where you've got six 19-21 year olds! They ended up with mobile internet (a cheap eBay router and an unlimited iD Mobile SIM) and it worked well most of the time.It did slow down around 4pm when the local secondary school turned out; the kids would wait at a bus stop nearby and saturate the local phone cell while doing whatever teenagers do on their phones while waiting for the bus 😄N. How old is the property?terry8591 said:I'm moving to a retirement flat in Maldon in a few days and the owner has said through the letting agent, that I can't install fibre if it makes permanent changes to the property. Does it currently have a underground BT supply ?
If so it could be ducted.
Wouldn't need a hole but would require possibly 3 plugs depending on if you won't a phone
They need to be adjacent to the incoming BT1 -
Thanks for the reply. It was built in the 80s, so you would think it would have BT lines to all the flats. Maybe I could get broadband over the copper line with BT? Probably quite slow, but better than nothing. As far as I know there are no internet cafes in Maldon and the only free wifi hotspots are two pubs about a 10 or 15 minute walk away, which would be quite annoying if I need to check my emails a few times in the day.35har1old said:
