Paying in old Travellers Cheque

My husband bought Travellers Cheques a good few years ago  worth about 80 pounds today

Barclays Bank refused to accept it into our Joint Bank account and was instructed that he should sign the cheque and then they would bank it
Did this and travelled back into town on the bus about 8 miles away AGAIN they refused to take it and said he must now come into town himself to a BANK in a pedestrian area  My husband is awaiting a  new knee and is extreme pain and couldnt possibile walk that far There are no branches in the vincinty or even ten miles away they are all CLOSED they wont allow him to post it ANY Suggestions what to do

A formal compliant to Barclays will more than likely result in them offering you £80.00 compensation and telling you to bin the cheques
Then you ask the complaints handler how much the ombudsman would typically  offer

Are these Barclays Travellers Cheques in Sterling?

Have you tried paying them in using the Barclays app?

Checking the Ombudsman page there are at least 5 complaints that banks have changed their policy to no longer issue or cash travellers cheques.  None of the complaints were upheld for the complainant.

I believe that the reason that banks no longer accept deal in travellers cheques is because they have been used to distribute and launder the proceeds of crime.

Which company issued the travellers cheques (Thomas Cook/Amex etc) and what currency are they in?

Travelers Cheques have been a timeless addition to the world traveler’s carry-on for over 130 years. While new Travelers Cheques are no longer issued, your Cheques remain backed by American Express and have no expiration date.

You would need to contact AMEX if they are in currency - Sterling cheques should be able to be paid in at the bank if the drawer signs top and bottom and puts your name in the middle.

It’s yonks since I last had any dealings with travellers cheques, but I thought that there was something about the institution cashing them needing to witness the signatures.

Why are people assuming they are Amex cheques? Op hasn't said who the supplier is (or, indeed, was).
