Removal costs?

Hi, I'm trying to work out the cost of moving and wondered if anyone could give me a link to a removals estimate calculator? I have tried a search through the forum but I'm getting things like chimney breast removals! Perhaps I'm using the wrong terms. I feel it's a little early in my moving process is to ring around. I'm moving from a four bed house, with two sheds, to a larger house a couple of miles away. Any help in getting an idea of price would be appreciated. We want to do as little work as possible.

Prices vary massively between providers, our last move prices ranged from £750 to £2,500 which were all in principle for the identical service. Whilst there are some national outfits there are many regional ones too but it's 50/50 on which is going to be cheapest or best value.

There are various comparison sites out there like https://www.reallymoving.com/quote-forms/removals where you can stick your details in and get a few quotes from different providers

I would like to not give my details as I don't want calls and emails. Is there an online quote that you don't have to give personal details?

You’ll have to give some details as the quote will depend on them. But you can say you don’t want calls and you can unsubscribe to emails.

Thank you for the replies so far
Doreebonner - too far away (I'm in Bournemouth and staying local)
Pickfords want to book a survey
Really moving emailed me one quote of less than £800, from a 3 star (out of five) rated company. I am expecting to pay more than that.

I'd be happy to hear what others have paid for their removals in similar situations.

When I go on comparison sites for insurance etc. I always use a false name and tel number and a secondary e mail address I never look at.

We last moved over 4 years ago, twice! with intervening storage, so my costs wouldn’t help you. But, in general terms I approached 4 or 5 local firms, one was part of a larger franchise. Initially we were moving from 4 bed with double garage & shed to 5 bed about 10 miles away.
I had to chase all of them to get quotes, and gave up on one as they didn’t reply. They were all so busy, none of them called or emailed me after their quotes.

Costs will depend on how much stuff you have to move.

A room could have a tv and two chairs in it or it could have three piece suite, tv, sound system , two coffee tables , a display. Binet  and anything else that can be fitted in.

A garage could have a car or it could be stuffed with tools, two freezers, garden equipment. etc as our was.

Are you packing any goods etc .g breakables, books, etc or do you want them to pack everything. That will increase cost and they will need to assess what needs packed and the quantity.

We have used Pickford several times, out of choice.  Their price was  similar to others and service was excellent.

They did come round and view all rooms etc.
     to arrive at price.

You won’t get a final price until you know a date as  costs could change.

I would suggest you contact local companies first.
No point in paying fuel for a van to travel miles  to get to you and return to the depot afterwards.

I don't know if it is still the case but moving on a Friday and moving in the summer were always more expensive.

I would expect any decent removal firm would want to do a survey before committing to a quote

I'd doubt you would get any useful input from people who have been in similar situations unless they were in the Bournemouth area and moved within the last year.
