Sky retention dept query

How do people who wish to keep their Sky landline number get to speak to the retention department as the new provider has to be set up to import the number before cancelling Sky.   When I phoned and said I wanted to cancel I was only offered the upgrade showing on my account which they would discount slightly, I refused and they said they couldn't offer me anything else.  So I'm stuck as no cancellation shows on my account.

Should be down to the new provider to sort out the transfer of your landline as well as your broadband service.

Is your new provider saying otherwise? Who is your new provider?

I don't yet have a new provider, I actually would prefer to stay with Sky but they put my broadband up to £46 from £30. I am trying to find out how I can get Sky to offer me a good deal to stay with them, the problem is I can't go ahead and request to cancel otherwise I lose my landline number which I need to keep.  As my account does not say I've requested to cancel the Retention Department won't automatically contact me and offer me a deal to stay.

Can you sign up with a competitor, let the competitor notify Sky that you're leaving and then wait for retentions to call you?

Thanks, looks like I might have to do that. I phoned Sky again and this time they offered me even less discount, a paltry £3!  I live in a rural area with slow speeds and rather limited as to service providers so am hoping to stay with Sky

You have to put your cancellation in, unfortunately These days Sky only seem to offer the cheapest deals once you have been disconnected.  I would just search online for cheapest deal and the new provider sorts it all out, maybe then Sky will call with a more attractive offer to stay.  I presume it’s broadband and phone you after not just phone?  Remember Sky are just using openreach lines so the speeds should be same with every other provider, it really should be just case of switching a router over should you move

Just move to a different supplier, in 12/18/24 months you can move back if needed.
