Might be better to go somewhere like Richer Sounds & test on some display TV's.

Second the Richer Sounds suggestion - visit a shop if you can and I'm sure they will test it out, see what works. Might need more than £250 though.

I've never known any of my TV's play sound from an optical cable connected device and the TV speakers at the same time. I haven't needed to though, but does sound like more of a specialised function.
  • I created this account to comment on this. I currently have a sharp tv from 2017 (I'll dig out the serial/product later) but it does spdif and internal speakers/headphones 3.5mm
Hisense kind a can do this, BUT its totally useless as when you set the output to spdif the tv speakers/3.5mm jack keeps playing and the sound level, but you have to go 3 menus down to change the volume, the remote + - no longer do anything.

Ive emailed sharp/LG/Philips asking if a model i was looking at  supports dual audio (or if they can point me towards a model that does)
  • Sharp said "check our product datasheet on each tv" and nothing else, no answer if the tv I asked about supported it or what it is called !

    Still waiting on other inquiries.
  • Can't edit posts so I'll add my current sharp tv that does dual audio.

  • Philips have got back to me and it was a proper human responce ! They said nearly all modern tvs will only output single audio.
They did point me towards a optical splitter /HDMI arc splitter that can used to output multiple types of audio connection.

Then tho I feel this was a solved issue back in 2017, but hey seems they don't want an easy win the hearing aid community

TVs equiped with a SCART socket normally have an "always on constant level audio" output.
Argos Scart Connecting Kit 888/9814 for suitable lead.
Works ok on my elderly LG  My other TV is a Panasonic and has independent bluetooth and loudspeaker
