Setting up a Tapo C310 camera To record 24/7 to a local HDD

Forgive me if the terminology is quaint, as I'm new to this Tech.
The camera is, apparently ONVF and RTSP capable, and rather that writing over and over to the internal SD Card, I thought it might be possible for me to set it to record to a disk in the house.
In my fantasy world, I envisioned a powered disk plugged in to my router, which would receive the stream and serve it as and when required to either one of my network connected devices PC/Laptop/WiFi TV etc as well as being able to receive alerts and view content over 'tinterweb on my phone when away from the house.
Am I over estimating my capabilities?
Can anyone advise me?

What is the problem you want to solve by recording it to a separate disk rather than using the SD card?
Backup?
Stopping a burglar from just stealing the camera's SD card?
The camera is just broadcasting the video stream over your network - to record that you will need "something" to receive that broadcast & then write it to the disk (similar to needing a video recorder to receive a TV broadcast & write it to tape/disk)
That could be something like a PC left running 24/7 or a dedicated server

Sorry for the delay, NHS kidnapped me for a while 😁
I was thinking of leaving it running 24/7 to a large capacity disk as back-up to a smaller MicroSD card which would be loop recording and at any one time would have only X no of days available.
The disk option would hold longer span, and serve as back up if the card failed.
Your statement made me realise a recording device of some sort would be needed.
I do have an old cctv recorder which used to (possibly still will) support 4 old B&W cameras low res.
It was a stand alone system so was unable to connect to WiFi, maybe that stumbling block can be overcome?
That system was tried but never installed, just dumped in the garage!
Maybe I should just keep it simple and accept what is offered!0 -
You need a network video recorder which is compatible with the versions of Onvif and RTSP used by the camera.
eg this looks suitable (and it's made by TP Link which owns Tapo)

Some Network Attach Storage (NAS) devices will also accept Onvif/RTSP but most are limited to the number of cameras they will accept.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
