what about earning/ or salarys? what your overdraft limit stink?0

I have a £250 overdraft on each of my accounts current. My salary is well above the national average, but not quite the £100k they require for their Private banking facilities (yet!)0

My partner has the Platinum account with Barclays (NOT the Additions.)
He doesn't pay any charges for the Platinum account. He was 'upgraded' to this account for free because he has taken out so many loans from them in the past! He also has a Barclaycard.
Can't see that many advantages with the Platinum account either, except for a £250 interest free overdraft.
My mother has the Additions account though. She was blagged into accepting it on a free trial several years ago and has been paying £9.50 a month ever since! Perhaps this is what happened with your wife?? (She hasn't used any of the services/benefits with it - she won't even use the free will making service as she wants a 'proper' will instead!)
Think I'll the only MSE in the family!0 -
Additions is a range of Barclays accounts that offer extra features for a monthly fee. There are several Additions accounts offering different features, for different prices.
Platinum Banking is free to selected customers (who hold the stated products). It is possible to have both Additions and Platinum Banking on the same account. Platinum eligability is based on the products you hold with Barclays, but is also credit scored (since the account includes an automatic £250 interest free overdraft and a £250 cheque guarantee card). One of the nice features of Platinum Banking is that you don't pay for things like stopped cheques, bankers drafts etc.
If you think you are eligable, call telephone banking or ask at your branch. Barclays won't automatically contact you to offer this service.
These are my own opinions - not those of the bank.Amazon sellers club - member number 63.
January challange - sell 10 items. 0 down, 10 to go!0 -

What if your overdraft limit is beyond the £250, say at £1600, will you still be credit scored???0 -
Yes, for the extra card functionallity. They mainly look at the running of your account - i.e. they won't let you have it if you regularly go over your agreed limit, or if items have to be returned.Amazon sellers club - member number 63.
