Can I buy an adapter or find a way to watch apps from Android tablet on my TV. We have a smart TV but it's old and won't support some of the newer apps like discovery plus. Also when we on holiday can we play TV apps from our tablet on TV in hotel room.

Thanks

It depends on the app.  Sometimes you can connect tablet to your TV via HDMI and use the TV like a big screen for your tablet.  But some apps don't allow you to share the content.

Depending on the TV you may not need an adaptor you may be able to 'cast' directly

Probably not the cheapest option but you might look at a Firestick rather than running the apps on your tablet. Look at it as a replacement for the "smart" bit of your TV that's become "dumb". Can use away from home too.

Check that the stick covers all the channels/apps you are needing, it's app store is pretty extensive (definitely has Discovery+, AppleTV, Disney, NOW etc).

Hotel use varies enormously, some chains have external sockets to allow you to connect devices to their TV, some have versions of casting (aka mirroring) built-in, some have no access to the TV at all or have inaccessible HDMI sockets.

I was also going to recommend a stick of some kind. Google Chromecast or Amazon Firesticks work well in my experience for upgrading older smart TVs to more modern usage.

I bought an adapter but it wasn't compatible and couldn't connect any of my android devices. I am trying to search for another one

I hadn't considered a fire stick, I was thinking of a hdmi type cable but fire stick might be an option

no it's usually an option within the app that you want to cast. The symbol on mine is a square with a series of arcs in its bottom left corner - like the wifi symbol on its side.

You'd be best buying a stick though, I made my very dumb telly smart with a Roku stick, and also upgraded a smart tv with a Roku stick. They plug in to the HDMI socket. I've since replaced the old dumb telly with a Roku JVC tv.

I'd buy a Firestick, they are dirt cheap on sale. You may find hotel TVs block switching to HDMI inputs.
