Santander switch incentive

I have seen the new Santander £180 switch incentive on the MSE bank page, which says You can't have had a switch bonus from Santander since September 2021.

However on the Santander website itself, it says you can't have ever had an incentive paid out. I'm digging through the T&C's to see if the 2021 date MSE has shared is anywhere, but can't. Does anyone else have visibility of 2021?

I'd be inclined to trust the official Santander offer terms for the incentive which has gone live today, linked here, over any paraphrasing offered by MSE.

I've also noticed they they have restricted the types of DDs that are eligible for the offer to a select list of "Household Direct Debits" which they sumarise here:

I have a feeling Santander didn’t offer a switcher incentive until Summer 2021 anyway? Any previous offer was for opening an account but switching was not required? May be wrong about this it’s just my recollection right or wrong. Also I tried unwittingly lol, to get a second incentive after 2021 and was not successful, so they do check!

Also pertinent is that with the new offer you won’t qualify if you held a Santander current account on 1st January 2025.
And the restricted acceptable DD list.

They are really putting the screws on these days in common with many other banks offers.

I don’t qualify on any of the new criteria anyway so not going to try this time.

Good spot, thanks! I think my son can do this one. He hasn't switched with them. My husband hasn't switched with them either, but we have a joint ancient 123lite account so he can't do this one.

I did their last switch, and the criterion about not having an account with them on a certain date wasn't there.

Annoying that they're restricting it to "household direct debits" - that's just to deter people like me who set up a couple of charity direct debits just to get switching bonuses  :D

And probably to entice you into the edge account if you'd opened the everyday account. I've done the sums and I would earn £1.05 a month after paying the fee.

I've already got an adge account, but I avoid paying the fee using advice from here on a previous switch thread. This also means no cash back, but I have 123lite for the time being.

I will find the instructions when I get a minute, in case it helps others on this thread. My son currently has savings at 12% with virgin due to run out next month so he might want an edge saver if it's possible to get without paying the edge account fee.
