I don't trust these meters and regret getting one as it was sold to me
so pointless waste of my time and loads of stress.

If you bought it you were a mug, you get one free when smart meter fitted,
Avoid stress, unplug it and stuff in a drawer, as most folk do when novelty has worn off.

I actually find it very useful and helps keep an eye on how much is being used rather than get a nasty bill at the end of the month.
Also find the data useful here. Have the advantage of an Octopus Home Mini, so get reasonably reliable access to the data as energy is being consumed. This data is squirreled away in a database and I use the gas information to work out how efficient the boiler is.
Having the data recorded will allow me to dispute any anomalous readings should they occur and make a stronger case to the EO if it ever gets that far.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

I think you talking about an IHD not smart meter.

Basically bills are either accurate (data from meter working within specifications), or inaccurate (estimated reading, or from a faulty meter).  A smart meter means a accurate bill is far more likely as for most people the data is fetched automatically and remotely.
