Easy Jet compensation

Our flight that we booked in October from Luton to Palermo travelling in June was changed from 6am to 17:30pm without reason in April.  We tried to get compensation, and were offered an airport change or a refund.  We couldn't take the refund as we wanted to still fly out of Luton, and there were no other flights that day.  We took Gatwick then needed to change it back as we are flying back to Luton from Malta with RyanAir.  Easy Jet have said tough as we had accepted the airport change.  Not sure if I can claim on travel insurance??  We've basically lost a whole day of our holiday which is really annoying.

winter to summer timetables change at the end of March, when you book far in advance there is more chance of a schedule change as the slots will not be confirmed until around January/February.
No compensation is due if you are given more than 14 days notice of cancellation / change. It sounds like you accepted the airport change rather than a refund but now want to change your mind and take the 17:30 flight from Luton which I don't believe is possible without paying the relevant change fees. Nobody can say if travel insurance will be of any help here, you will need to read your policy documents closely of contact them....what are you wanting to claim for?...the cost of changing back to Luton after you asked them to change you to Gatwick...unlikely that would be covered.

Not sure I'm following how you've lost a whole day if you accepted a change to a morning flight from Gatwick, but when evaluating costs of options from where you now are, perhaps worth bearing in mind that it's not difficult to travel between Gatwick and Luton, with regular trains getting you from one to the other in about an hour and a half?

Is the reason you need to change because you are planning to park at the airport and want to return to the airport where you have parked?
