Hiya
My mum has applied for UC migrating over from ESA. She has an appointment at job centre in 2 weeks time but she has no photo ID and she's worried they'll close her claim can she complete ID without photo ID?

There are quite a few threads about this - this is one https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6595822/dont-have-photo-id-uc-migration#latest

As above many threads of same concern.

A few people recently have had issues with lack of ID documents and ended up with biographical phone interviews I understand where you'll be asked about information only you may know like regarding bank details. You'll ultimately find a way through ID but hopefully an easy route."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack1 -
UC will do a biographical check.... unfortunately photo ID is becoming absolutely essential nowadays, getting accomodation, a bank account or a job usually requires photo ID. The Jobcentre helped me to pay for and verify my identity for a passport so I would be able to work and move into my own council flat from sheltered accommodation.0

I have always used my (free if you qualify for one) disabilty bus pass in lieu of a Driving Licence, both have your photo. There were a few places that at first said 'not on the list'. (They tended to back down when I explained EA10 to them).I even presented it at my UC ID meeting at the jobcentre. Again it was 'not on the list' but photocopied and accepted.Things have changed since then and I look at it this way now -A photo bus pass is good enough ID to use to vote in UK elections now, so it's good enough ID for everything else too.Anyone, or any ID policy, that says otherwise is simply out of date.0
