thanks for all the help everyone

so is replacing the hinges a relatively simple thing to do, by 2 very unskilled people? do we need any specialist tools?  or would you recommend getting someone (double glazing repair person?) to do it?
You can get a few quotes from DG companies or window repair companies.

You would be best to deglaze the door by taking off the beads and if you do make sure you take care of the sealed unit as it will be heavy and watch out for the edges of the unit as being toughened glass could shatter if the edges are hit.

Make sure the hinges are exact size and the holes line up and you should be ok .

    Look on YouTube for advice.

If you can take off the hinge cover you could get the manufacturer name and model number which would be a great help to you.

Well, the only tools needed are a pozi screwdriver and an allen key:
If the top and the bottom hinges are more or less OK and can hold the door, open it 90 degrees and put some support under it in the middle, e.g. books and some wedge. Than you can try unloading the middle hinge using the allen key and the bottom* screw, then removing it. If you can do this then you are skilled enough to replace it. Measure the distances and order new ones with the same.

*In my house it's the bottom screw for up/down adjustments, but in the picture it's the top one.

I had a similar problem with my old conservatory door, especially during summer when it would swell and the lock got stiff. We messed around with adjusting the hinges ourselves, but honestly, it was a bit more fiddly than I expected, and getting it lined up right took a few tries. We ended up calling a local repair guy in the end, he swapped the hinges in less than an hour, and the door’s been fine since. Regular screwdrivers and maybe a drill were about all he used, so it’s not crazy technical, but if you’re not handy it’s worth bringing someone in. If you ever decide to replace the whole door instead of just the hinges, looking for an interior door supplier china could save you a lot on costs and give you more style options.
