Oh my Word.

My old PC has a registered copy of Office Pro Plus 2016. My new PC does not.
This copy is, however, registered to daughter as a student, and she has just completed her edu, so I can see that coming to an end :-(
I only need Word itself, and not even a fancy version. Paying an ongoing subscription for 365 is not an option I wish to entertain - I want a one-off solution.
Soooo, how to best get a version of 'Word'?
Ta.

Someone at some point is going to recommend you libre office.
I'll save them the job & not recommend it but just mention it.
Though it obviously doesn't help if you want Microsoft Word.
They'll still push libre office though. It's just what happens when people ask about MS Office I've found.4 -
Try the free online version https://word.cloud.microsoft/
Needs a MS account and stores your docs in OneDrive, does all the basics.
Others will be along shortly to recommend sites where in no way hookey absolutely genuine but somehow very cheap product keys for full-fat MS 365 may be purchased for little money.4 -
I prefer to purchase cheaper Office keys. They are still infinitely more expensive than Libre Office.1

I've seen that, thanks, and i do have a MS account. Is 'cloud' the only way to store - no option to do so as normal Word files on your PC?0 -
Many thanks everyone - I'll work through these options.0

Later versions of Word/Office do not store the full licence key on a PC, so you would need the original full key to re-install on new hardware, although if you have used a Microsoft account on the old machine, it may automatically register a downloaded copy on your new PC.
There is a Home Office 2024 package of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint from Microsoft for £1201 -

With support for 2016 seemingly ending this year, that's an added reason.Soooo, unless anyone says "NNOOOO!", I'm going for that :-)Thanks everyone - fab stuff.1

I'm only a very occasional user of this product (Google Docs does me usually) so others may be able to confirm.1 -
