I was told that I can record if I buy something like this

    Not on it's own it won't.

    What are you proposing to plug it into?

    Based on the title of the thread, I assume he proposes to plug it into his Community Fibre TV box?

    It will probably work to record and play back OK, most SSD devices seem to. It's HDDs that people seem to have problems with.

    Yes that is what I was going to do - community fibre said it will work but I wanted a second opinion
