New smart water meter - boiler not working?

We had a new smart water meter fitted today (not by request, but I'm happy to have it). Just went to turn on the shower and no hot water, we had hot water this morning.

The error code says 227, which is 'no flame signal detected' which seems to be a gas fault? Is it possible that a water meter change could have affected the gas supply?

Boiler was installed 2020 and has been serviced every year, next one due in June.

It would be a bizarre coincidence for the boiler to have died at pretty much the exact same time!
Anyone know if this could be related?

    Unfortunately not!

Well... We have a gas fire, but we were told not to use it as the chimney was leaking. The fire hasn't been used for around 4 years now, so I'd be nervous to turn it on in case it goes boom.  :D

Is the gas supply actually on?

Will the boiler fire up and run the heating?

Air in the system could affect pressure switches.

Run all the taps connected to the mains supply to purge any trapped air including the hot water outlets.

The gas supply is on in the house.

Neither heating or hot water seem to fire up the boiler.

I've just braved the gas fire - doesn't seem to be any gas flow, but that could be either no gas supply or that the fire just no longer works after 4 years of inactivity...

I can't see how a water meter installation could affect the gas. Is the meter in your home or outside under a cover in the street?

The water meter is in the driveway.

I assume the gas pipe runs somewhere nearby.

From googling, the error code covers everything that could possibly cause no flame. Including a blocked heat exchange (?)

It would be a very weird coincidence if the boiler broke at the same time that something else was altered, and it not be related!  :s

I would guess the boiler was either turn off or when into error due to low water pressure. Maybe the boiler needs resetting

Try the old "turn it off, wait a minute, and turn it back on". That should clear any fault.
If not, book an early annual service and let them know there is a flame fault that needs fixing. If the problem be inside the boiler, the repair should fall under the warranty.

Stab in the dark but is there sufficient pressure in the system? I don't have a combi so I don't know if that would be a factor or not?
