    it's a flat type connection. -

USB-C, but that's just for power. You still need to plug in the 3.5mm for sound.

    Well I have sound!
I could not get my new speakers to work, but my old one's which I thought were u/s are working. I'm not sure what happened to make them stop working but they are ok now.
So I have a set of new speakers which are either faulty or I'm not connecting them correctly?
So when time permits I'll have another go at getting the new (more expensive) speakers to work.
As always thanks for the replies and help, always appreciated.

    1. When that happened with my sisters stereo speakers, I took the covers off the speakers jack plugs and found that both had dry joints.
When I soldered them both speakers started to work & she never had trouble with them ever again.

    2. It may be that there is an problem with the wires., so I suggest that while they are giving you sound, move the wires around & hear if the sound cuts out,

    3. Pull the speaker plugs out and in a few times. It may be that they just did not make proper contact.
Or the computers speakers socket may have developed an intermittent contact fault.
