I live in a housing association flat and reported a cracked toilet pan. They sent 2 guys who fitted a new one like this.

Toilet base held by 3 wood screws and wobbles when sat on.

Interior of soil pipe exposed and faint sewerage smell.

I have never seen a toilet fitted like this with a stained soil pipe exposed between the pan connector and soil pipe!

I am not an expert but need to make a complaint and need to know what to say about this job and where it is wrong. Can someone look at the pictures and help me please?  Thank you.

Say that two guys were cowboys.
And I don't know why they sent two to do a one-man job.

Thank you, they definitely were but I think I need to be a bit more precise and technical about exactly what is wrong with this fitting especially as the people in charge of booking contractors and dealing with complaints about them are non-tradespeople.

I think if you send them the photos, then that will pretty much explain the botch job.

It smells of sewage and moves when you sit on it should be sufficient issues to get a workman back.

An open soil pipe like that is a health hazard. Speak to your landlord immediately and if they aren't willing to come out and fix within 24 hours, speak to environmental health. Sewer gases that are escaping from that pipe can be toxic.

This is the bottom of toilet pedestal where it should meet the floor.

    Phew !!
    Lazy incompetent bodge job.
And they have probably charged the housing association £500 plus.
Report it with those photos and a short concise email.

Thank you. I have reported and sent photod so now waiting to see what will happen. I have been told I have to give them the chance to 'redress' the issue. Not feeling confident.

This is how deep the gap is between the toilet and the floor with 3 zinc coated screws inserted into the 4 holes, of which, one of the screws is at a 45 degree angle with no washer.
