Is it an Islamic thing: alcohol only between 10am and 12 am?
Not really, many all inclusive hotels even in Spain dont have booze on tap 24 hours a day and end it at midnight when the bars presumably close.
I hate the uncertainty of 12am!

The alcohol serving hours are actually 1000 to 2400
Indeed, hence why I said midnight in my reply to clarify the situation ;)

not to be pedantic but 12am is pretty clear

Based on my experience with Easyjet - I'd take the refund and seek an alternative - other opinions will differ of course.
If they advertised the deal as a 5 star hotel and it's actually 4 star then Easyjet are at fault, regardless of who in their organisation may have made an administrative error.
If the deal had been the otherway around I suspect Easyjet would come looking for an extra payment for the upgrade status.

It sounds like more of a mistake rather than the claimed false advertising.  I am however sympathetic to the OP’s position and disappointment.

EasyJet Holidays have laid out the options that they are obligated to offer, including a full refund.

OP, mentions ‘compensation’ - I wonder how much is expected.

I think the angle of attack would be on the ‘downgraded’ or at least incorrect star rating.

If truly unhappy with the situation at the original hotel then I would suggest the OP looks at a few other hotel options on the EasyJet Holidays website that might work for them as an alternative, suggest these - then negotiate with EZYHOLS.  They, IMO, are unlikely to accept moving the party to a top end expensive 5* without the OP contributing, but they might be more amenable to a change if the cost for the new hotel is only say £100-£150 more.

Also, call EZYHOL during normal office hours. That way you may reach their Luton office rather than their 3rd party outsourced call handlers in South Africa.

    Good luck.
