NatWest cards haven't had anything on the front for years. My Barclay's card does but it expires soon so it'll be interesting to see whether the new one does or not. Chase doesn't have any details on at all, nothing on either side; you get the 'card details' from your app rather than the physical card.1

Are you aware that a lot of cards have nothing on the front other than bank name & Visa/Mastercard logo & all Account details/Card number/CVV are on the back. 👍
No debit, or credit, cards that I know of from any bank are like that.Although I can see how NFC cards with no confirmation code might be.As might Pre-Paid cards.Name the bank that issues such 'one sided' debit/credit cards? If it is a thing then it seems insecure and I'd like to know more.I have a Santander Debit, Halifax Credit & Daughter has a Virgin Debit
Best bet if they want a copy. Is to cover CVV, Middle 8 of card no & last 4 of acc number.Life in the slow lane0 -
Interesting, my current LLoyds debit card (issued 2022) has the number, dates, etc on the front with the confirmation code on the back. It's just more secure that way.Unless of course the confirmation code isn't actually on the card itself but has been notified seperately?Thinking about it I have seen an aquaintance use a card with nothing on the front but a logo for NFC payments.
(I'll ask her for a look at what's on the back, and then quickly duck). It may well be the uptake of NFC payment during covid and since that has prompted a change to what is printed on cards. As Spoonie points out there is actually no real need for any details at all to be on the card these days, everything needed is in the embedded chip.
You don't even need to know your own card number for that, just wave it at the scanner.0 -
Jusr had a quick compare with the friends and acquaintances in the Pub who had their cards with them. Some have cards with account details on front and confirm code on back. Some have cards with all numbers on the back. Some have cards with no numbers showing at all.So it looks like things are changing as new cards are issued.I still don't like the idea of all account details and numbers being on one side. OK it's not very likely that someone dodgy would get a photo of your card details, but never say never.0

There are of cause the Chase Debit cards that only have a magnetic strip, signature strip and 3 digit code on the back and nothing on the front, so the card number and expiry date etc are not on the card at all. The obvious downside though is if you have two accounts with them its going to be hard to know which card is which!0 -
Everything on the back is all down to Visa & Mastercard. They are the ones that set out the design specs for cards.
Basis is that if you tap you card for contactless, you always do it front up. Therefore if they put all details on the back, then a camera at the terminal can not pick up card number etc.
Actually more secure 👍Life in the slow lane0 -
