If my kids could figure out how to get the PS out there I'm sure they would love that idea!la531983 said:
Are you planning on taking the Xboxes and Playstations away with you?GixerKate said:we (family of 4) are all pretty heavy users - gaming and streaming.
Ok, my idea of heavy users isn't quite to that extent, we mainly play games and stream netflix etc from our phones and tablets so we do use quite a bit of data. Just in case people were thinking we all sit in silence staring at devices we actually tend to play stuff together plus we will need to be inside during the peak heat times as I can burn to blisters in 20 minutes and the rest of my family are fairer than me lol.
We are with GiffGaff (so O2) I don't think I have the option of a Roaming add-on but going to check, great idea.
Thanks for everyone with the suggestions of other eSIMs, its not an idea I've explored previous to today so I'm going to take a good look.
GiffGaff include EU roaming in their plans upto 5GB. Roaming charges with giffgaff2 -
Be aware, you might not get the same access to streaming content that you have at home. It’s country-specific. Not sure about Netflix but I was missing a lot of content from Prime, Paramount+ and Disney+ when I went to Tenerife in January.GixerKate said:

I looked at these - but all the rates are quoted in USD - don't want to pay exchange fees!ButterCheese said:GixerKate said:I'm going to the Canary Islands with the family for just over a week and the place we are going to doesn't have wifi so I'm looking for alternatives. I've Googled and seen Holafly, seems pretty good? I don't know if just one of us having it and sharing 500mg a day will be enough though, we (family of 4) are all pretty heavy users - gaming and streaming.
Is Holafly the way to go or are there any other alternatives?Saily.com Get 15% off with the code: SAILYUKIf you look for a Youtube Channel called "TrueBlue travellers" - John and Jess have just been to the US and Canada and one of their recent videos is sponsored by Saily. I guess the US is their biggest market even though Saily is part of Nord Security, very much a European company.isplumm said:

You'll be spending in Euros if you decide on a local SIM solution so doubt if you'd save that much, if anything.0 -
are there any e-sims that allow you to make calls back to the UK? I have a SKY mobile, but they charge me £3 a day to use my standard allowance!

Airalo is an eSIM thast I have used successfully in both the UAE and St Kitts in the last six months so that could be one worth looking at.GixerKate said:la531983 said:

Do check that your devices are eSIM compatible though. Whilst more and more devices are eSIM compatible, many are not and older devices less likely to be.1 -
Surely if you are going abroad you have got at least one forex free card such as Chase or Monzo? So why would that matter?isplumm said:

Also if you are the OP you have somehow logged in on a different account now.0 -
I’m also with giffgaff. The 5GB EU roaming included in their plans is more than enough for me for a 3-4 week holiday in Europe.bagand96 said:GixerKate said:

I've double checked and I've got a recent Samsung that supports eSIMs so all good on that.TheShape said:
