Howdy all,
(I have read the Newbie thread but can’t quite find an exact match)
I received a letter (Date Posted: 08 May 2025) from “Trace Debt Recovery Ltd” claiming I have not paid a PCN that was apparently issued 20th September 2020. The vehicle registration is mine and the location is just next to a well known fast food outlet, so I have reason to believe I probably did / have parked there. However I have no recollection of receiving a PCN either on the car or by post. I no longer own the vehicle in question so would not be able to recall if the correct address was on the V5 as I moved about a fair bit that year. I apparently have 14 days to pay £160.00!! I would not dispute the PCN had I received it.
Am I right in thinking the client to the recovery agency would need to provide me proof the PCN was issued?
I’m not hugely clued up on the process so if somebody could explain my next steps like I’m 5 that would be very helpful!

Thank you!!

Yep there are similar letters in the pictures in the 4th post if the NEWBIES thread. Just ignore.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I had a good chuckle reading the Trace letter above.
Just like a joke from a xmas cracker
They say they are specialists , sure they are, specialists in adding SCAM amounts admitting they are aloud to because the unregulated ATA's says they can.

I apparently have 14 days to pay £160.00!!Scammers make it sound urgent so you pay up without a quibble.I would not dispute the PCN had I received it.Really, just because some idiot says you owe them money you just pay them?None customer parked in a customer only car park. What proof do you think they have of that?Additional charges our client is entitled to add, in accordance with the parking sector single code of practice."The parking sector single code of practice" was not in force in 2020.

A debt collectors letter. The clue is '14 days'.
The fourth post of the NEWBIES thread explains exactly how to deal with debt collector's letters, but to summarise that post - ignore them.1 -
