I’m sure it matters 😉 - maybe time for the custard testoldagetraveller1 said:Sorry, but I suspect that car is a figment of someone's not light imagination.

Had taken the car to my local garage yesterday and issues as follows:
- AC not working, tried to regas but still not working so needs new condensors
- Brake lines corroded
- Exhasut clamps corroded
- Damaged coolant lines
The owner (mechanic) said he hasn't worked on many of these cars and the younger lads wo work for him have never worked on them and that I might be better off going to a Porsche specialist.0 -
Did you buy private or dealer?0

Hope you got it cheap as you’re already in the £’000s for that lot doing.Cuticuraser said:Had taken the car to my local garage yesterday and issues as follows:- AC not working, tried to regas but still not working so needs new condensors

I can live without the AC for the time being. There is still 8 months left on the MOT so have time to sort these if they fail in the next MOT.Wonka_2 said:

The tyres look a bit ropey but will get these changed before the next MOT.0 -
I'd recommend getting the brakes, coolant and tyres sorted before they fail, rather than after.
Did you do much pre-purchase inspection?
This does all have a bit of a dark feel about it, though I wasn't sure at first. At least you're not talking about putting ditchfinders on it yet.

I don’t rate your local garage. This is just standard bread and butter garage work that a Kwikfit would have a decent chance of doing. I’ve worked on these and there is nothing particularly complicated about them. If you do want a specialist to work on it, go for an independent outside the southeast or you’ll get fleeced.Cuticuraser said:Had taken the car to my local garage yesterday and issues as follows:- AC not working, tried to regas but still not working so needs new condensors

No air con in summer with the engine behind you will be interesting
The coolant pipes are a fundamental - if they’re damaged/starting to leak they need doing
And as for driving one on ropey tyres !!!!!!

A reminder ! Nice looking car mind, just find yourself a good independent Porche specialist, and condition yourself to spending on it.stuhse said:Remember the rule when buying toys..dont buy it unless you can afford to buy 2.
The saying for Jaguars - if you cant afford a new one , you definitely can't afford a second hand one.---i think this probably applies to Porsche too.
BUT remember -
He who dies with the most toys wins.
Have fun..
Just budget for substantial maintenance and repair bills and you can have fun. You cant buy cars like this and think the only annual costs are going to be tax, insurance, a standard service, MOT and set of tyres. As said above you need to budget for purchase price and on going upkeep of £ xxxx K per year.
