Google pay not working

Options
So six months ago my Apple Pay stopped working. I set up a chase and TSB to use google pay for my work phone and Apple Pay. Apple Pay now works fine. Anyway I bought my wife a new engagement ring it was around £800 and the jewellers sent me a payment link and it kept declining maybe 2-3 times fraud as it was high amount. So I completed payment over phone great worked fine.

Sadly it then meant my Google pay stopped working so can’t buy content on Google play store. Both cards blocked off won’t authorise. Why is this my fault? I replied to the text is this fraud I said no. I managed to get to someone high in bank last year was given compensation but never fixed. They said there systems block cards for x time when that happens and usually it’s a few months. To this day Apple Pay doesn’t work.

What’s the solution? Ask for a new card number? Set up a new bank again?

    Error says

This device can't be set up to pay contactless

Your device doesn't meet pay contactless security standards. It may be rooted or running uncertified software. For more info, visit Google Pay Help or contact your device manufacturer.

And This error is surfaced when Play Billing has an error during payment initiation. Usually this has to do with something the user did i.e incorrect payment method, title unavailable

    Software fully up to date

Have you contacted your bank? They may have blocked contactless payments. Mine did recently when they discovered my card had been compromised.

Yes they said they are fine and they told me contact Google. Same issue before they go between the two parties and never find a solution. I found in Google others had this issue they can block off use of Google and Apple Pay.

It sounds like your device is too old, you do not have the right security level set up, or Wallet detects unsigned apps running on the phone.

Could you not use a normal old fashion credit card instead?

The question isn't is the software up to date, it's what version the bank wants you to use as a minimum and what version Google support. In theory 9.0 and above but an older phone might not be seen as secure enough.

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If you're even close the software limit then you may find issues as my father did when his Huawei was two generations beyond the limit plus there is the question of 32bit v 64bit Android too.
