Exact frequencies used will depend on the precise kit installed and location in the UK.https://youtu.be/bsd-gSffh_o?si=wx0f7RnTES0MbrOl
I will watch it all through later but hes saying hes not had a bill for 8 months and has not paid anything but is expecting a huge winter bill . The smart meter has lost signal but surely its not gone blank screen and is not recording the usage .
smart meters will work as a normal digital meter in not far off 100% of the time so why can t he just send Octopus monthly readings on the app ? I ll ask him that in comments on the long youtube vid1 -
Probably by sensationalising it to make a video.
Why is there such a mystery about having a meter, smart or not. There's a lot more in this world to worry about than whether the meter uses 2, 3, 4 or 5G. You have to have a meter if you want gas or leccy, does it matter whether its smart, dumb, green red or blue.
I happily sent in monthly readings before I had a smart meter, likewise when it stopped being smart I still sent in monthly readings;
Now its smart again and doing what it should I still check the readings every month just to make sure the bills are correct
The most pressing problem for many people will be how their existing RTS meter responds when the sign gets shut off - it may default to peak rate and stop switching the water & heating or even worse default to peak and leave the heating and hot water on continuously.
Leaving it to the last minute may cause a lot of people a lot of grief especially if the last valve in the transmitter dies before everyone is changed over.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers4 -

We don't pay the BBC to manufacture replacement valves for obsolete broadcasting equipment that is older than many (or possibly most) of the contributors to this forum (and many of them are old gits) It really is time to stop whinhging about this and be a bit more helpful by getting your RTS meter swapped out if you have one. I understand from your posts that you've known about this for at least 18 months or so. If you haven't yet got your meter swapped out IMHO it is you that is being unhelpful.
