Many congratulations on your Ruby Anniversary, Jazee and MrJ - have a great day out!
It was cloudy and chilly here yesterday morning, but that was good for me to go to the meeting and finish my clothes shopping (mostly replacing worn-out t-shirts and trousers that have lasted me between 5 and10 years, so no guilt here) - but after our late lunch the sun appeared from behind the clouds, and the air was pleasantly warm when I took Rosie out at 5.30. Flyladies wishing to escape either the seasonal chill or a heatwave are always welcome here. Just give me half an hour's notice to rustle up some scones and throw the Dy$0n round, please! You'll have to turn a blind eye to any other dust (ref: Narc0's mantra) or untidiness.
We enjoyed the quiz last night, but it is symptomatic of my cultural preferences that we did very well on the "Paintings and Artists" and general knowledge rounds and rather badly on music and caricatures (I recognise the faces but can't for the life of me remember the name). All good fun, though, and £220.05 was raised for Christian Aid.
On Friday I bought a load of annuals for the garden pots, plus four little tomato plants which, following a good soaking, have already grown by at least 1cm. I'd better try to get them planted out this afternoon.
Enjoy a day of rest/relaxation, if you can xxx

Morning all xx
Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Jazee 🥂🍾
I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, completed Strands with no hints, completed Wordle in four, completed Connections with one life lost, set the towels and tea towels swishing, and supped my first brew.
Yesterday afternoon I strimmed half(ish) of the grass in the back garden. I'm not touching the front until my bluetits have fledged. Mum and Dad are still busy feeding this morning.

Happy. anniversary Mr And Mrs Jazee
This week I will be very busy planning mum’s funeral; she passed peacefully in the early hours yesterday morning. She was not alone. It’s been a mere 3 months in care so that’s a small consolation.
I am chief funeral planner I think. Fortunately my ‘eagerness’ to attend funerals (my sister always says Valli likes funerals…Idont especially, but it means
s a lot to families to have people go). When I went to funerals with mum she would comment on the arrangements so I know what she would like. She wasn’t even keen on the flash hotel by the by pass (and that’s just reminded me to contact someone). There are no specific requests in her will so we have free rein. We are doing this, not step dad, but I will consult him Ie I think we should do/have x…what do you think?
So i’m planning on getting date options first for my preferred venue, then getting the funeral directors (chosen by me) to book the crem (least important part actually).
Plus my preferred venue has very easy road access, not far from the crem, loads of parking so will suit out of town mourners. And is road signed and sat nav will find it too.

Lots of love and (((hugs)))), Valli. I'm glad that after all the upset of recent months, your mum's passing was peaceful and that you were there with her to say goodbye xxx
It's turned out very nice again here today - sunny but with a gentle breeze - so after lunch I plan to take Rosie for a pleasant walk on the Edge, then on our return, once I've had a cuppa, to empty the garden pots and refill them with home-made compost. I may or may not put in the plants today: it depends on how my back and shoulder feel after shovelling the compost.
This evening two of our local NT properties (including the one where I used to volunteer) will be featured on Countryfile, so I must work our mealtime around that.
See you on the new thread xxx

Sorry to hear about your mum, Valli, but glad that it was peaceful. Plenty of hugs from here, and more for your DD x
Congratulations to Jazee and Mr J.
Well done, Round. You have my deepest respect as I am too anxious to go anywhere near a car wash. Hence my bucket and sponge approach.
I have totally lost my flying mojo. I am hoping that it puts an appearance in for next week’s list. I am easily distracted by being outside. Anyone who wants their washing dry is welcome to bring it here on their way to sones and tea at Iona’s . It was 40 degrees in the gh yesterday with shading and all windows and doors open. Outside hit the mid twenties. Today is, if anything, hotter.6 -
Valli, sorry to hear about your mum's passing. As the funeral planning has been left to you, I would suggest you plan things that your mother would have liked, do away with anything she hated or is not needed. Defo consult with step dad and other family members as needed.Edit, don't be pushed by the funeral director for stuff you don't want, and make sure you ask the prices of the 'extras', take a note book and pen, write the questions down before you get there, leaving about 1/4 of a page or so for the answers, take someone with you, if you get upset, pass the note book to them and ask them to ask the q's and write the answers, if you are on your own, pass it to the funeral director and ask them to do it, go away, to consider what you have been told, write / email them your clear instructions when you are ready. And in true MSE style don't be afraid to ask for discount / offers.Walking doneLifeboat training watched.Kitchen doneBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles
