As ever, I'm way behind. It has been a fairly 'social' week evening-wise so I haven't caught up.
The biggest week's frustration has been the demise of our fridge-freezer, just when the weather is hot......we'd wondered about milk going off quickly, ice cream seeming soft. A visit from an engineer this morning confirmed that it is not repairable (of course it cost £40 to establish that). Then followed, or rather continued - as I'd already started researching - sorting out a new one the size we wanted which could be delivered asap and which didn't cost the earth. Ended up having a long conversation with a helpful (but fast-talking northern lady) sales person after the web site showed an error after the visa app crashed. Should arrive tomorrow; not the colour we wanted (white as it is cheapest) but a silver one - the alternative being to wait a whole week with nothing but a cool box topped up with ice blocks (we have a large freezer which still works).
Exercise has gone ok apart from missing zumba last night to go to a ballet; missing Monday zumba to do a full moon lake swim and missing this morning's pilates while faffing about ordering the fridge freezer. I should be sylph like with all the exercise I'm doing, but social life seems to inevitably involve cake or a meal out, which isn't helpful. And don't say order a salad when I eat out........tomorrow is coffee and probably cake with a friend; Saturday is afternoon tea which is at my voluntary workplace to show another friend what the site is like. No hope. And Sunday is Open Church day which involves a picnic in the grounds and afternoon tea.....hoping to use leftovers from the previous day's tea for the picnic and avoid another tea.
Up to date with washing and washing up.
Have made a huge list of garden tasks and it is going ok.
Mr N did a lot of vacuuming this morning.
Prepared containers and picked foliage to make 3 flower arrangements for our Open Church day on Sunday.
Have booked next visit to Mum (and so sorry, Valli, that you are having such a hard time).
More or less keeping up with drum practice.
Not making much progress with study/hobby room conversion other than all excess linen from the airing cupboard has gone to cs or tip. Just 2 duvets to get rid of but I don't know where; animal charity doesn't want them.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.5 -
Nice to see you, Narc0. Hope your new FF arrives before all the ice cream is ruined. I had similar trouble trying to find somewhere that would re-use/recycle duvets and pillows: in the end I just put them in the black bin.
Today we were supposed to be going to a garden centre near Millennium City which has a clothes section (including a particular brand for which DH has a discount voucher) but mid-morning I began to feel decidedly off, so we stayed at home. However, before then I had managed to S&S the kitchen; PUPA, dust and hoover through downstairs; hang out WMx3; and tidy upstairs. DH asked me to leave the hoover out so that he could clean his room, but somehow that never happened. I spent the afternoon curled up on the sofa and had recovered sufficiently by 5.00 to bring in the washing, take Rosie out for a 30 minute walk, cook tea and FU the washing - but that was about all. It's been decidedly chilly here today compared to earlier in the week, though the sun came out for most of the afternoon.

How lovely, the goslings ( I think they look like geese) but whatever they are they look so cute.Sneaked out wednesday afternoon. I wanted some bedding plants so headed to B&Q as its grab a granny day (10% off gardening). I'm late buying, but we wanted to get on with the gravel while the weather held, but I didn't expect it to be so bad. Hardly anything there, and all poor quality.. So headed into the Range, and they'd just had a delivery all lovely and fresh. 3 punnets of 10 for £6 so a bargain. We got kfc and then got icecream and sat on the sea front.Still managed a bit of a fly in the evening, though kitchen only needed a quick wipe. Stripped the dog sofa and put the dog towel wash on. I have an old donated WM in the garage for pet stuff.Thursday was more garden, finished off the earth sieving (from the gravel) emptied out all the hanging baskets and put them to soak for today. Topped up the strawberries with the good soil and the potatoes with the basket compost.Managed the default level 1 kitchen, and FUPA the dog towels.I should have said before but thank you for the lovely welcome xx4

Morning all,
Spikeygran, I haven’t actually been able to find any bedding plants in my usual haunts at all. I only want a couple of trays to fill the gaps, so I am resigning myself to having gaps and hoping the geraniums beef themselves up. Next year I will plant more flower seeds. If I remember!
DH and I had a day out at a new to us NT property. It was decidedly chilly, especially in the breeze. When we got back, I made a quiche and a cake. DD is popping home to pick up bits, and may be trmpted by either of those. Which won’t please DH if he finds them gone 🤣. I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening finishing my library book as it was due back and others were waiting.
This morning I will faff until DD gets here later, then faff and worry until I know that she is safely back in the uni city. Wm is on, there may, just may, be more flying when I have finished my cuppa.

Morning all. I slept until 9.00 and am feeling better today, so we're off out as soon as DH gets back from his surgery appointment. Rosie has gone out happily for her walk with L.
I have left my bed open to air, S&S'd kitchen and bathroom, unblocked the shampoo bottle, FUPA the last of yesterday's washing, made my shopping list, found 5 books to declutter if we do a slight detour for lunch at my favourite NT place. The blinds are down and it's lovely and cool indoors, but 28 degrees outside!
The baby blue tits fledged on Monday or Tuesday (I hope they had stayed in the nest box during the short sharp shower) the blackbird who started building in our front garden decided she knew of a better place, Mr Robin comes back almost every day to see us, but yesterday evening we had a flock of about 20 young starlings and their parents visit, and they gave us the joy of seeing a mini-murmuration.
It's nearly the weekend, I out for most of the day tomorrow, and I haven't done much off my Toots list this week, but never mind.
Have a good day, friends! (and I hope DD enjoys the quiche and cake, Fayolle) xxx4 -
28 degrees, I'm moving to Ionafan's
it is 9 here if that. Thinking also I get wood for the burner in to take the chill off the room.

Morning all. Hope you are doing well.
Wordle in six, connections with one life lost, strands with eight hints.
I have vague plans to actually do something this morning and the grass needs cutting and car needs cleaning but we'll see.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.4 -
Morning all xx
Chilly here too kaz. It must be an East/West divide.
I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, completed Strands with five hints (and I still have no idea how the words are themed), completed Wordle in four, completed Connections with no lives lost, and supped my first brew.
My week off has flown by. A lovely mix of peopling and solitude. No flying - although I did catch up with some Admin yesterday.
