    Which ombudsman do you think covers grocery subscriptions? Its typically only regulated industries that have compulsory ombudsman and any other one is voluntary so naturally has conflicts of interest etc. There used to be the "retail ombudsman" but they were instructed to drop the ombudsman from the title as they were not meeting the standards required to use the title. They are still going but now list themselves as an Alternative Dispute Resolution service rather than ombudsman. 
    They really ought to change their website title, which still uses their old name, albeit alongside the current one!

    I've used HF. The cancellation policy is very straight forward, so if they sent the box and charged you for it, it will be because you didn't cancel in time.

    So yes, they can and might chase you for the money, so it's sensible just to pay. 

    Surely you just used the food? As that would have been silly not to...
