Porting number TO Lyca (TWICE)
Options
I took out a 12 month Lyca sim only contract and ported over my previous number from SKY mobile with no issues.
Getting towards the end of my 14 day cooling off period I wanted to port over a different number from Vodafone to use instead of my SKY mobile number, I kept trying to do it on their website and it kept returning various error messages. On the final day of my cooling off period I called customer services and the lady advised that she would escalate the issue and for me to call back in a couple of days to see if they were able to resolve it.
I called back a few days later, now out of my cooling off period, to be advised that Lyca only allow one number port per SIM card. Their solution was for me to buy a second Lyca SIM card to transfer the number to that!
Seemingly my only option now if I want to change my number is to wait 12 months!
Would this give me grounds to cancel my contract?
Thanks for any help!

If it stares that only one transfer per sim is allowed in their T&C's, then no. If it doesn't, then maybe...

Interesting problem, I've done dozens of PAC transfers in the last couple of decades and I don't think I've ever ported to the same SIM twice. The nature of the thing is that you are transferring one or two personal numbers between operators as better deals become available.
It might well be that it's a system-wide (ie not just Lyca) limitation, others may know.0 -
Again not something I've ever considered doing but Smarty seem to allow it and I can't see anything on Lyca's site about it either way.

Is it a system wide limitation - I couldn't tell you. That being said I'd be a bit leery of saying it's a provider limitation either as the porting system is relatively centralised as I understand it. However, for reference for anyone interested, my experiences went like so:
1) port was rough, took about a week but everything eventually went through.
2) port went smooth as silk, no issues at all.
3) provider porting team rung me, conversation went broadly like this - them "you've ported onto this SIM before, are you aware?" me "Yes" them "You're looking to do it again?" me "Yes. Is there a problem? Can I not do it?" them "no, no, it's fine, I'll email you confirmation through to your registered email" me "oh, OK, thanks"... Porting day arrived, and service fell to bits - texts worked, barely, but everything else was off. Customer service tried some troubleshooting - no joy, only thing that worked - replacement sim card, with ported in number on it.1 -
With hindsight it might actually be a blessing in disguise, I ported my long term mobile number (maybe 20+ years) to Lyca no issues, I since saw that there is a market for and people are selling mobile phone numbers of a more memorable nature, I decided it would be a good idea to buy one!?? - but then couldn't transfer it to Lyca.
I think I will probably get the cheapest of the MSE blagged Lebara deals and transfer the new number to that, run the Lebara SIM along side the Lyca eSIM using the Lyca eSIM for mobile data (90GB/£10 month/12 month contract)
Running both numbers side by side will likely easy the transition to a new number from one that I've used for 20+ years!0
