    I didn't say that DIY conveyancing was recommended. I said that instructing a solicitor is recommended, when in actuality it seems to be a necessity.
    The necessity is being placed by the vendors solicitors, not the law in general.  They could just as easily do their own AML check on you, it is just the closed shop attitude of Solicitors only being willing to deal with other solicitors.  
    Regarding auction purchase (assuming traditional) there is very little to do on the purchasers side.  The pack is all there and there are no “enquiries” to be had.  On a 28 day purchase they seem to do nothing for 27 days and then press the button on day 28.    You would think they would see it as easy money but again solicitors seem to be sniffy about dealing with auction purchase.
