Trading212 - I wouldn't bother

Just, finally, managed to open a Trading 212 Cash ISA account, what a palava. Mainly in pursuit of their .72% bonus for new customers opening an account through the MSE link. Took ages, taking photographs of self and ID docs etc. Eventually got the account opened, despite being sidetracked to open Stocks/shares ISA, only to find the bonus not applied, no obvious way of contact, rubbish outfit, avoid is my advice.

Go into the settings of the Cash ISA section of the app (the 3 horizontal bars at the bottom right). Go to the promo code option and enter "MSE" (without the ""s).2

Thanks Danny, you're absolutely correct, although I'm using their website not the app and things are slightly differently set out, but much the same result, thanks again.0

Most of the OP complaint seems like a non-issue. Having to provide ID?
Accept the lack of bonus may be irritating but, there is nothing wrong with T212.3 -
I opened one a few months back for the bonus. I then told my 77 year old mum about it a couple of weeks later and she opened one in about 10 minutes and added the bonus with no issues.
I don't think having to prove your identity to open an account is too big an ask. Far better than having to travel into town to visit a branch like many used to require.• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.0 -
I don't care how tricky it is to open an ISA account. I just wish the interest rate stayed stable for a while. Trading 212 dropped their variable rate by 0.4% for no reason a few weeks ago (no base rate cut at that time). The bonus for a year makes it still a good rate though.0

Their reason was probably that they had achieved the number of funds/customers that they had targeted.JohnB47 said:I don't care how tricky it is to open an ISA account. New players often offer the best rates to get a foothold in the market and then back off.2 -
Exactly. If one wants stability with rates, a variable rate account isn’t the way to go.Albermarle said:

I didn't like their poor customer support either but it seems I'm in the minority on this forum!0

I opened a T212 cash ISA 2-3 weeks ago. It was a little bit of hassle making the ID check app work - it didn't like Firefox but was OK in Chrome - and I had to spend 20 minutes on the phone to my bank to convince them I wasn't the victim of a trading scam before they'd transfer the cash
Now it's set up, everything is good. I'm getting the MSE promotional interest rate and amount wondering about transferring my SSISA to T212 too. It's currently with iWeb who are cheap but basic.N.
