How ?.
The Dacia might only get 1 star today. But a few years ago it would have been 5 stars.
My 2016 5008 got 5 stars, today 1 star, as no automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist etc.
All the new features for safety are making drivers less aware and in my opinion more dangerous.
Good air bags and crush zones are important, the rest is just icing on the cake.I would rather have a new car than a 7 year old car.0 -

It's a lot of money for me but I was prepared to but it.. I just got put off by what I felt was a sales tactic and now wonder if I am being blind to an issue since its not sold in a long time and I felt like it was being 'pushed' on me.
Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like I dont have anything to worry about here.I have to say that if I felt they'd tried some sort of tactic, sales or otherwise I would walk probably even if I had to pay a bit extra elsewhere. There are plenty of dealerships to choose from. Admittedly if you really like the car and its the right price, you are at the top end of your budget it may be a difficult decision for you.The bit about advisories would make me think too, surely if theres a known issue that is going to cost money at the next MOT you'd want a discount?1 -

But we don't know what the car we're comparing the Dacia to is. Did it do any better?
If i remember correctly, the NCAP changed to include to require a lot of active safety features like lane departure warnings around 2023 meaning that lots of cars getting 4/5 stars in 2022 were suddenly getting 1 star. Dacia was particularly badly affected by this because the cars are pretty no frills, though the actual impact protection was the same.
Here's the NCAP for the Dacia Spring in question: https://www.euroncap.com/en/results/dacia/spring/44197
It does seem like it rates worse than the rest of the Dacia range though.

I surely cannot be in a subset of one, and if you base your purchase decision on the brand name on the wipers or the make of the tyres you can be missing out on a superb car, or buying one that has never even had an oil change but someone had to have the blades/tyres changed by the garage to pass the last MOT.It is overall condition and history that matters, (especially rust and signs of repaired/unrepaired accident damage) not a consumable item.I'm saying you can't judge how a car has been cared for by the brand name of the wipers.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

TBH I'm amazed anyone might even think that.
