Insolvent Estate and Renounce Ex

It seems the house didn’t sell at £365. Mortgage £250, funding circle loan £115, personal loan for van £10, loan from council £10k.There’s not going to be anything left after the lender has their selling cost and fees etc.
OP is under enough stress at this time and just wants to walk away, so unless there is a large sum paid direct to her and not in the estate, it’s of no interest.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Id be very careful now what you do as you could be seen as meddling in the estate and therefore liable as executor de son tort. Id just renounce your right to administerwith the PA15 and leave the headache to whomever does take on the administration of the estate

Just an update, we have started to get a couple of letters today, one from the local council about unpaid council tax on the house, and hmrc asking for tax return both are aware he has deceased… I have reply like this, is this all ok?Dear Sir or Madam,Re: The Estate of XXXX (Deceased) -I am writing in response to your recent letter addressed to me and exors of XXXXPlease be advised that we, as named executors, have formally renounced our roles and hold the PA15 renunciation forms and original will. To the best of our knowledge, no one has yet formally applied to administer the estate.Additionally, it is believed that the estate is insolvent. As we are no longer acting in any official capacity, we are not in a position to assist with any estate matters. We kindly request that you direct any further enquiries or claims through the appropriate legal channels and refrain from contacting us further regarding estate matters, as we are unable to assist. Should XXXX wish to formally apply for administration of the estate, please provide a written request explaining your intention to apply and the reasons why; upon receipt, we will provide the PA15 renunciation forms and the original will.Thank you for updating your records accordingly.Kind regards,
IF WE get further chasing from them,(without them applying for PA15s) do we just resend a more strongly worded letter ?Thank you x0 -
That sounds like a reasonable response.1
