Samsung - Advice for warranty claim

Hi All,
Unfortunately had my Samsung tumble dryer pack up last week, it's stopped working and doesn't seem to be giving any error messages. Been all over youtube and tried all the trouble shooting i could but i have got no where.
My wife bought this dryer exactly 3 and a half years ago from currys and it was advertised as having a 5 year warranty.
So i decide to call curry's who direct me to Samsung, chap on the phone takes some details and comes back to me advising that the product only has a 2 year warranty as we had not registered it.
Whilst i acknowledge that we should have registered the item surely an "admin error" on our part in forgetting to register the product does not let Samsung wash their hands of the product altogether?
I have lots of Samsung products at home and have always been a happy Samsung customer, i was thinking of sending off a customer complaint to Samsung along these lines.
What do you think?
any suggestions?
TIA

You have no claim with Samsung, their warrantee is in addition to your consumer rights and they can set any terms they like with it. If you can show this is an intrinsic fault with the machine then you have a claim against the retailer not the manufacturer.0

Essentially just need to hope for goodwill on Samsung's part which is unlikely...

Your statutory rights are with Curry's and they are who you need to pursue. Given the item is over 6 months old its your duty to show its a fault with the device (rather than misuse or acceptable wear) and if they decide its uneconomical to repair they would be entitled to reduce any refund to reflect the use received before it broke down... Curry's seem to be similar to JL in their approach and you'd expect the refund to be under 50% of what you paid for it.0 -
Hi All,
Thanks for the advice, will look to get the machine diagnosed by an engineer then look to contact Curry's off the back of that.
