Shame you have to give it away. Can't you make use of it of an evening to hunker down in as opposed to wearing it out0 -

I'm now a bit wary about claiming the refund offered; as they have my bank details that could be dangerous. I shall have to ask at the bank about getting a new card and then changing all my standing orders/direct debits.1 -

DD & S/O rely on sort code/Account. Which they will not have.

If it really bothers you, it's not exactly difficult to remove the buttons and sew them back on to the "right" side yourself. Or even, find a local person who does clothing alterations, it would be a trivial job for them.In terms of returns/refunds, take what you've been offered. It really would be a hugely disproportionate amount of effort to try and argue the toss with them, especially for such a low-value item.TELLIT01 said:I would have thought 'buttons on the wrong side..... for a woman' is actually pretty obvious to all but those who want to be difficult! On menswear the buttons are traditionally on the right hand side and on womenswear on the left. The OP ordered an item for a female and arrived with buttons on the traditional side for men..
On the fairly safe assumption that the OP doesnt only wear full length skirts they are clearly comfortable about moving away from some traditions and so which side the buttons are on is really irrelevant. Many now sell "unisex" items like https://www.cottontraders.com/unisex/knitwear/cardigans/? which you'll note has female models wearing right side buttons.
There is a big difference between wearing items of clothing that are marketed to both men and women hence called "unisex" and the androgynous look. Personally have no issues with identifying the genders of the models in the Cotton Traders photos despite the fact they are wearing the same knitwear.
In reality many more items are unisex than you think and the only actual difference between the version in the female section and the one in the male is the size label they stitch in - the men's one gets an S and the women's an M. You are then blindly buying it thinking its "women's" when in reality its unisex (obv talking things without buttons)
