No gas usage recorded on DCC since April.

So I noticed on both Bright and Octopus no usage at all since April for gas.  Whilst I am not using much now I am using something.

My plan of action is to put boiler on for hour (all its usage since mid march has been timer only, not witnessed it on, but must be working as I have hot water), before putting on I will manually look at meter reading, then check it again after.

This I assume will help any diagnosis when I report to Octopus.

Any other suggestions?

Have you read your meter and compare it with bills, gas “smart” meters are often pernickety in reporting.

    I'd guess a flat battery.

This will be annoying, I can guess Octopus will want to bill me based on preceding months usage, when this is my first period on a boiler with no pilot light in warm weather, and the dec, jan,feb had a lot of usage.  Thanks, I will report back how this gets handled.
Will have to ring tomorrow looks like they closed for bank holiday.

They are supposed to have 10 year batteries.  But several of the manufacturers seem to have sourced their batteries from Temu.
Have you tried poking any of the buttons on the meter to see if it wakes up?
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I tried to press what seemed to be buttons, but they didnt actually go in.
I noticed just a moment ago on twitter Octopus had kept my dialogue open for the octopus mini reset query, and only replied as late as last week, so I have already mentioned it in that DM along with photo, but will still ring them tomorrow.

They already making this harder than it needs to be, they really dont want to do a call out.
After a lot of prodding they said they need to run remote tests and takes 2 days, does this sound about right or am I being fobbed off?
To me it is simple, you get an engineer out, but this all feels like excessive triage.

It is not unreasonable for them to want to try and prod it back into life, but high probability that it will not work.

Which meter type is it?  Our old Landis+Gyr G470 is still working after almost 8 years so I'm expecting it to die at some point soon...

Says G4 at top left of label.
In centre is a big GWi. Labelled 2021 below it, but I think I actually got it installed 2022.
Property of meter fit 20 ltd.

Not exactly the same but is similar to this, colours bit different and buttons slightly different.

Emailed me today to say they have requested a meter exchange from the metering team.
