CCJ/Trust deed - CCJ removal & credit acceptance

Hi there

Over 6 years ago i got myself into a trust deed.  I paid it all off over the space of the 5 years.  In fact ,i paid it off 6 months early.   So 6 years on everything on my credit file was cleared from my credit file except my CCJ.  ( i dont even know why the company filed for a CCJ as they already agreed to the trust deed and THEN filed for it)  ANYWAY lol.  Today my CCJ has been removed and my credit score has gone up.  I have had a good score for a good few years now anyway BUT it went up to 922 .  I have been using a credit card for years now to pay for my weekly bills and shopping and then pay it off in full each week.  They have upped my credit over the years and i am now sitting at £8k.  I fly a lot so I was looking to take a credit card that gives me points and close down my current one i have - I used the checkers on American Express and also Virgin and both rejected me.  I have no debt - i have a mortgage - never missed any payments . no defaults on my record.   The question I have is, could it be too soon after this CCJ has been removed for me to try for things like this ?  Could it take a few weeks to show on other systems?

There are 3 major credit reference agencies and it should have gone from all three so give it a go.

I have already tried Virgin and also American express .  now with no defaults and the CCJ gone ( as of today ) i would have expected that i would have got it.  esp with a current card with another company and a credit score of 922

The credit score you see, as has been said so many times previously, is not the score you are assessed on.

Only you see that number, potential lenders will assess all the information available to them, including credit scoring, but using their own, confidential scoring method.

On this occasion, you did not meet the criteria the lender was looking for, its as simple as that.

I do understand this - You would think that there would be a reflection on doing well on your finances from both sides.  I.E credit score and also their own systems.  Seem s strange

Credit score is irrelevant.  The key point is what the lenders appetite is.  Have you actually checked your credit reports to make sure there is nothing on them which would cause an issue?

Yes.  I have - Ever since I was put on a Trust deed ( Scotland ) i followed my score.  My record is clean and all and any defaults and anything negative has been removed

If you've applied and been turned down, for two today, then I would suggest giving it a month and the using a pre-eligibility checker. You may find you have to start with a subprime card if you have a thin credit file with little on it.

What does show? How many bank accounts, mobile phones, is it showing you as being on the electoral roll?

As you have a current card that you are using and repaying each month, your credit record should be looking pretty nice.

But have you applied to Amex or Virgin in the past when your Trust Deed and defaults still showed? They can always look at their own past records even when your credit report is squeaky clean.
