Mileage discrepancy rmi

Hi all, my new used car saga continues. Found an A4 avant from approved dealer. 5 years old with 46k on the clock. It drove great and is in good condition. Very happy with the car except for a mileage discrepancy after i put the deposit down.
Carwow my preferred search was down when i tried to check so did a different search at the dealership which flagged no issues and paid a deposit. Realised it didnt flag taxi register so checked if car wow was working and it went through when i got home. Shows up clean accept for finance (dealer stock) but does show a mileage discrepancy on 17 May 2019 which results in additional 10,135 miles against the service record on 19th May 2019.
The car has been serviced by audi and MOT with the exception of the 2024 service.

Carwow:
11/04/22 -RMI 18016 miles
17/05/23 -RMI 38122 miles
12/10/23 - MOT 31331 miles
11/10/24 - MOT 41446 miles
service history
5/01/21- recall (presumed) 2659 miles
4/05/21 - recall (presumed) 5029 miles
19/05/23 - service audi - 27987 miles
10/10/24 - service third party 41446 miles
13/04/25 - service audi 46384 miles
On the back of this i did a report with HPI directly but it only flags MOT records and not RMI which i find confusing as they monitor RMI?
Im hoping this is an admin error given the rmi/service are two days apart but obviously i dont want to exchange cash until its sorted and i dont even know what to do to get it sorted. Waiting for dealership to open to call them but i dont want to be fed some bs by the dealership.
i need a car quickly and this is my only issue. Im kind of stuck with bank holiday investigating and my MOT is due end of the month which wont be worth doing.

So let's put those two lists together in chronological order minus the odd-one-out...
(Oct 2020 - Presumed new)
5/01/21- recall (presumed) 2659 miles = interval of 3mo, 2.5k
4/05/21 - recall (presumed) 5029 miles = 4mo, 2.5k
11/04/22 -RMI 18016 miles = 11mo, 13k
19/05/23 - service audi - 27987 miles = 13mo, 10k
12/10/23 - MOT 31331 miles = 5mo, 4k
10/10/24 - service third party 41446 miles = 12mo, 10k
11/10/24 - MOT 41446 miles
13/04/25 - service audi 46384 miles = 6mo, 5k
Everything there stacks up... No obvious signs of clocking, just a nice gradual increase in mileage, roughly 1k/mo give or take a bit.
And then we've got...
17/05/19 - RMI 38122 miles
May 2019? But the car was new around October 2020. So the date is immediately suspect, apart from anything else.
If it was 17/5/24, it'd fit nicely.
Does the car have a digital odometer that can be switched miles to km?
38122km = 23687 miles, so that'd fit around autumn 2022, which is where it sits in the first list.
Perhaps the bigger concern is that there was apparently no service in the first 28k miles. Or is that what the 18k April 2022 "RMI" entry is?0 -
When was this car first registered? 5 year old, so 2019 at the earliest. Possibly 2020.
Which data set is the OP aligning as being the mist-match? It is not clear to me.
Could the mismatch be a miles - km error?
The dates don't seem consistent, let alone the mileage.
Can the OP set out the data in clear linear format (and type the years in full "2021" not "21" to be sure confusion is minimised)?
There also seem to be gaps in the service history.
Is the deposit refundable?

A five year old car cannot have almost 40k on the clock six years ago…1

Sorry all discrepancy was 17/05/2023 on RMI. Edited this now. With service done on 19/05/2025.I do have an issue over first service to but i have also read it can be up to 2 years or 30k depending on service plan which i dont really like as i typically do annual0

Hopefully it still has a stamp0 -

Now, if we go with the theory that the dates are a day or two out either way on those two May 2023 entries, and somebody's misrecorded a 2 as a 3...

mid/05/23 - service audi - 27987 miles = 13mo, 10k
mid/05/23 - RMI 28122 miles = a few days, 200 miles
12/10/23 - MOT 31331 miles = 5mo, 4k
10/10/24 - service third party 41446 miles = 12mo, 10k
11/10/24 - MOT 41446 miles

Reckon that's feasible?
