Shared ownership and land registry issue

Can anyone shed some light on our predicament please.

We are shared ownership 50% share.

We are trying to buy 100% so we can stop paying rent.

Our housing company was Obit and transferred to legal and general 13month ago.

We started the process September 6th 2024, it’s now been 8months and we still haven’t completed, everything has been done our side for the last 6months.

we’ve already lost one 6months valuation for the house and our mortgage that we had arranged, so they have now been redone.

Our 2 year fixed mortgage ended 2nd December at 3.9% interest which has gone up to an 8% interest while we wait for completion.

We have also still been paying the rent we had wish to get out of.

Stamp duty has also risen in April 2025.

All of these things have added to the financial burden.

We’ve been told by Legal and General the land registry is at fault because it’s “due to the back log the land registry is facing in general since covid”

We have no idea when they filed for change of name with the land registry.

We have been told we cannot complete on 100% or even sell our share to move out until the land registry is done because it would affect both ways.

At this point we feel we are being stopped from any outcome and have filed a complaint with legal and general.

Which the deadline for a response has now passed (3weeks) in which they have pushed their deadline for a response back further.

We will now file a report with the housing Ombudsman to investigate.

Is there anything more we can do or any advice anyone can give please.

also is there any information we’ve been given that’s incorrect (like terms of land registry would affect our sale if we moved house instead)

We are being trapped in this predicament, where we feel legally shouldn’t we have more rights?

not the same situation but i had 50% in 2016 and in 2019 i was able to buy 100% because rent was getting so high. it took months and months i was with aster, they wouldn't respond to my solicitor or me and i was chasing them nearly everyday. they kept saying they had not received the emails/letters from solicitors and then blaming my mortgage advisor. its like they just dont want to sell it. all i would say i keep pushing and pestering them.
