Obtaining NI number of deceased.

Newby, sorry if i am in the wrong subject line. My question is, Am i able to obtain my late fathers NI number ? I think i need this to track motions of his bank account also to where his state pension was paid into.. I am direct next of kin, and only recently discovered his passing. As i understand there has been no Probate or Will left, the fact his property was cleared of all furniture and paper work etc by other family members, i have nothing to start a line of enquiries for bank accounts or to where his state pension was paid into. I feel that by obtaining his NI i would have a place to start, would i need to make contact with works and pensions ? Perhaps some one has an idea to where i might start. Thank you.

Have you access to any of his correspondence - letter from HMRC or DWP ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

I think without a will naming you as executor and the fact that someone other than you presumably registered the death then you may struggle to get that information from the authorities. Who arranged the funeral ?
Going at it the other way round, if you had a copy of his bank statement then it will appear as the reference for any benefits that DWP pay into that account.1 -
Have you searched to see if he had a will and it was proved?
If not then use https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills
This will tell you if a will was pur through probate and if no will whether someone applied for letters of admon.
Even if you have his NI number the banks are very unlikely to tell you any information and my bank have no clue what my NI is. If you are trying to find out what benefits he was receiving at time of death then yes you would need that but again DWP could be funny and refuse you any information.
I am assuming you are wanting to find out what money he left and whether you have anything coming to you?
Next of kin is a misnomer as there really is no such thing. Anyone can be the next of kin in todays world.

Have you spoken to whoever took on the responsibility of dealing with the estate and arranging the funeral?0
