Well, as mentioned above by KxMx I did get my first  New Style ESA payment of £281.10 (showing as "EESA" as it always has in my bank) today.

How strange that simplified UC now means I get 100% more types of benefits. Double admin.

Also, I got a call yesterday afternoon telling me I was getting New Style ESA (9 hours before the first payment and still no letter) and that I was getting another telephone call next week for an interview which would take about 20mins. The caller said New Style ESA and UC were "combined". Hmmm. Again, I thought all this was automatic and simple?

I'm not complaining as I like the fortnightly money as the 5 week thing from UC is just silly. I will be told what UC I'm getting this Friday 16th.

Thanks again to everyone for replying the wisdom is much appreciated.

UC is replacing 6 income related benefits, Contributions Based ESA isn't included.

The phone call is something DWP have to do legally, it'll be a quick one after you confirm id all you have to do is agree to keep them informed of any changes, same as with UC.

All migration letters will be sent out by the end of September. It's not possible to be any more specific.

That's good, it means your ESA status has been confirmed.

And yes, I have seen examples of first statements where the ESA deduction is being made, but LCWRA element is missing!

My UC payment information looks correct they've taken off the new ESA and added the transitional payment.

Works out at about £58 more than my old IR ESA although part of that will be the UC credit month being more than 4 weeks I assume.

    All good so far.

For a true comparison what you need to do is convert your weekly ESA award to a monthly one.

To do this you multiply the weekly amount by 52 then divide by 12.

It's just 5 weeks from when you claim, then goes to every month 👍

I think a lot of setting up and the dates and times best to submit a claim are crucial. I don't think there's much information on UC regulations regarding the best time to submit the claim regarding payments, rent due dates, bills, etc. Applying near to a month ending will confuse the information.
