  • Right then, I have added our names to the first post and any information I have about our goals for the year. If I have got any of your information wrong or you wish to add/change anything please let me know. I will do an official list update on totals at the beginning of each month - say the 5th? That way any extra money we all try to save over the month can be added to our next months total (if that makes sense!) Also if you can think of anything else to say/add to the first post let me know - I have not done a post like this before:o

    Bells Bells,

Sign me up for monthly target updates! My Goal is to overpay £2000 by the end of November off a mortgage of just under £82,000.

First target is to not spend anything more on food shopping this month, so I can pay whatevers left in my bank account by payday on the 28th straight off the mortgage. Been to Asda tonight and stocked up on reduced meat for the freezer. Also must ring lots of relatives and invite myself round for meals!

Also waiting for about 20 hours overtime to be paid which should go a long way.

I'm off to search the internet for a cheap mortgage pig now, any ideas where to get a good (cheap!) one anyone?

Thanks bellsbells - might as well put me down for the full 4685 pounds as I might as well think big!

The first thing I can do is round up my payment from #290 to #300. I won't miss that tenner, surely?

spl one member of the forum took a photo of their house and blacked it out when ever they pay a certain amount off their mortgage a part of the black and white photo gets rubbed off and a part of the house is revealed a very smart and personal idea one that i think would really help me but i just dont have a clue on how to do it hope that helps

Wow that was me. I'm amazed anyone remembered. The original idea was a modification of Weezl's though so the real credit goes to him/her. Here are the pics I got a friend to put a grid over 2 photos for me, one colour and one black and white. When I pay off 0.5% of my flat I can colour in a square (by copying and pasting the coloured square over the black and white one). The ones at the sides are the bits that I currently own at the last remortgage stage the middle ones have been paid off since. If anyone else does this too I'd love to see your pics :)

PS I'm doing the mortgage free in 3 (reduce in 3) and my progress is in my sig :). That's my target for this year to continue paying 200pcm over my normal payments.

charity shops are a good place to look if you have the time for a wander. Ebay is another good option. Pound shop type places often have those saving tin cans that you can only open with a tin opener. Do you do Pigsback? You can order a piggy bank from them for about 400 points. Or you could make one!
