definitely the more the merrier - it really spurs me on to know there are other people who are all doing what i want to do - as many of our friends are quite happy to just have te mortgage as is - or continually remortgage to give some spare cash and i am just the complete opposite

am definitely laughed at for my vouchers :) but then i laugh to as since ihave used them saved over £1k on shopping i would buy anyway which is a whole months mortgage payment !!!!

by the way well done elantan for putting the money straight on th mortgage - that is disciplined and a lesson i will be following

    have a good weekend all

great minds must think alike i was sitting looking at my online mortgage account and wondering how i can make extra payments what am i gonna do etc then had a wee wander over to my current account and saw a payment for the pricely sum of £4.31 paid into my account and i was sitting thinking where did that mony come from what's it for thenit hit me it's my quidco for the month so realising it is extra money that i hadnt budgeted for it went straight to the mortgage ok it aint much but it works out (i think) approximately half a days interest that the bank will charge me today which when i think its money that i wasnt expecting and it has effectively halved todays amount of interest i have to find i am happy ...does that make sense to anyone or am i rambling again lol

no you are not rambling - it makes sense to me anyway:rotfl: I am doing a similar thing - any bonus bits of money go straight into my mortgage 'pig'.

    yes this is becoming addictive

today i managed to pick up the cooked meat at tesco that is listed on another thread on the site - the glitch on the tills means that i have enough ham, beef, chicken etc to make our sandwiches for the rest of the month for £1.84 - when i think that if i buy a sandwich it costs more than this anyway i have put another £10 onto my mortgage for the money we would have spend (i know it probably would have been more but we are quite short this month after xmas)

so another step forward - as elantan yesterday this is about half my daily interest !!!!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
    hi everyone!

i have just taken on a small mortgage - only £15000, but then i only earn about that too so it's still enough!

i plan to overpay by the amount my travel expenses turn out to be each month, so my basic salary will stay the same, and by anything that ends up in my very gorgeous mortgage pig (hmmmm.... so far only £7.90:rolleyes: )

i'm also going to start a diary to try and motivate myself.....

    good luck to everyone else!

Hi everyone, I'd like to join this thread as I've just taken on a mortgage of 46,850. It's a 2-year fixed deal & I'm allowed to overpay by 10% a year, so I could in theory pay off 4685 this year without getting a penalty. At the moment I've got absolutely no idea HOW I can do this, and I've also got credit cards to repay so I guess you might also see me on the DFW board. But every little bit helps & the encouragement will be great, thank you all!

I would like to join in too. I'm hoping to pay off the rest of a loan i have outstanding and make a start paying back my overdraft. I'm not sure what else yet but i'm sure i will be inspired to make more savings by other people on the board.

sounds like a great idea to me bells bells ...well today i got accepted for my goldfish card through quidco so that will be £41 for the mortgage pot in the next couple of months ....also tonight hubby bought his drink and chinese i have joined the dfw miss out x,y,z thread so i am not drinking however i have decided that just because i am not drinking doesnt mean that i cant have the money that i wouldve spent on drink and chinese but i am aware i have to start savings as well soooooooooo i put £5 into my mortgage (half day interest thingy again...will actually need to work out exactly how much interest i pay in a day) and transfered £5 to my savings account that way i am taking care of both ok it's only £10 all told but hey small steps eventaully turn into big leaps

i am up for it - as i said before a target seems to make me work harder !!

well done again elantan for halving your interest today

i have just won £23 on the closer bingo deal that is out there at the moment so v happy as another £23 will be going straight onto my mortgage as soon as it lands in the bank

    bells bells

my target this year is £5k - and at the moment we are on target - though am also being realistic in so much as we do want to have another baby (have a wonderful little boy who is two now) and so may need to dip into this if we are lucky enough to have another - this subject is almost a whole other thread for me at the moment and so wil not go there at the moment ( we had a very difficult year 2007)

Bells bells thanks so much for administrating this - today you have saved me a lot of money as thought about the thread before i bought random things that would have no benefit really

take care everyone and good luck with 2008 (again) i think we will have a good year and even by having this ambition means we are all a step nearer to being mf
