My Feb overpayment is through today, I have fiddled my savings a little to allow me to increase my payment so I am now up over £180/month and rising.
On the down side, even though I got a wage rise, because of my new position, I do not get as much bonus and have actually ended up about £40/month worse off. I have pointed out the loss of my bonus but it could take a while for them to come up with a viable scheme, it is not just me that is affected, there has been a whole new department set up and everyone has the same problem.
I may have to do a bit more fiddling to get the balance right between income, savings and mortgage payments.

I have paid off an extra £700 this month (covering January and February) although if I'm honest I'm not really sure how. I need to track where my money goes. To get the mortgage under £150,000 by December I have to pay an extra £400 per month for the rest of the year. I need to sort out EBaying and Amazon selling or it won't happen. The task for the week is to learn how to sell my junk/valuable collectables otherwise I won't meet my target. I have collected five boxes of things to be sold which in my warped mind is the job done. I need to get off my bum and get started.
  • Yay, got my letter from the Halifax this morning telling me that the interest rate has gone down - my new monthly interest-only payment is down from £187.40 to £171.28! This gets automatically rounded up to the nearest £100, so the £200 I pay each month will now make a bit more of a difference than it did before.

My overpayment fund is growing nicely too - have now got just over £10k sat in savings, and I should be able to add £500 per month to that, which will all get paid off the mortgage in a few months time.

Haven't done any matched betting for a few weeks though - I really must get back into it, I think I'm getting lazy now I've done most of the easy ones. I've also got plenty of things I could stick on ebay or amazon... Right that's it, I am going to get my bum into gear this weekend and have a good old clear out!

i know what everyone means about ebay it just seems like such a chore to take all the pics then put it on the pc then so on and so on, i'm sat here thinking that i really should sort out the ebay stuff but no, i'm reading the forum again
I am now debt free! Whoop whoop! :money::beer:
  • Well i must join all my fellow lazy people. I had big plans for today and have done nothing. However i did put £50 on virgin poker and got £40 back from "wepromiseto", cashback site as recommended on this site. I have gambled my £50 up to £120, and after i play a certain number of hands virgin match my £50 initial deposit.

So i have managed something today ;)

  • That's why I do amazon for books/DVDs/music - they take more in fees, but it's far, far quicker to list things, and then they're on for 60 days so I can forget about them unless they sell! Made nearly 40 quid in the last couple of days, so will put that onto mortgage when it comes through.

  • Hi,

Never listed on amazon and have loads of nice books collecting dust, might have a look at it.

I have a couple autographed by celebs can they be listed?

No, you'd need to use EBay for those ones
  • Yeah, you can use amazon - when you have to describe the condition, you can pick "collectible" and then say in your short blurb that it's been autographed. I have no idea whether it helps it sell though - buyers might be more likely to look on eBay for signed books?

  • I haven't manged overpayments so far this year... because i havent completed on my house yet!!! ha ha, was definitely being overorganised thinking about overpayments when I'm not in debt yet, hopefully I will be mortgaged up by the end of Feb... I'm still going to aim for the £3000 overpayment for this year.

Right I'll be back when I've got my keys, lol, good luck to everyone else :)
