Best start saving then. Made my overpayment for January - £72.45. That £1,527.55 to go

Same here bellsbells I think the first option would be easiest for you to manage as it only has 3 columns but its up to you sweetie.

    Can you farking believe it!!!

Driving home from evening class tonight and sounds like my exhaust is going on the car, OH says he doesnt think it will last the week. I have just sent all the spare money for Jan off to the mortgage company as I thought I was out of the woods for this month spending wise.

Guess I will have to dip into my just caught up to date savings Grrrrr!!!

Hope it just needs repairing and not a full exhaust which could be about £200 I beleive or am I being optimistic with £200 for a citreon picasso xara?:o

No idea about the cost, but I can sympathise... my car is booked in to the garage on saturday as it has started juddering when in 3rd and 4th gear. Like you I had money earmarked for my savings account that will have to be used. My plan is to get myself £1000 of savings before I throw all extra money at overpayments so the more I use out of my savings the longer it will take me to up my overpayments if that makes sense.

However, turning it on its head the way i am trying to look at it is that at least I have savings to use - last year I would have had to use my credit card (0% interest of course but even so it would have been a debt!)

Let us both hope for really simple, quick and cheap solutions to our car problems!:rotfl:

  • Bellsbells, I like all the pretty colours too - I don't mind which way you want to do it, as said - whatever is easiest for you :)
Thank you for organising it though!

So in fact here are our two choices - we could go for option 1 that would look something like this:

    Name Target March total Overall

    Bellsbells - £2500 £156 £996

Or we could go for option 2 which would look something like this:

Name Target Jan Feb March April Overall

    Bellsbells - £2500 £490 £150 £156 £200 £996

I am sure there will be fancy ways of doing this on a spreadsheet but trying to master that skill then work out how to transfer it onto a thread would mean that you would not get any totals until about June:rotfl:

I think the first option is easiest for you and therefore gets my vote.

If you'd like some help on the spreadsheet then please let me know. I'm happy to help out and am experienced with spreadsheets.

Hello fellow MFW's! bellsbells, I'm happy with either option, but no.1 does look easier to manage.

Hope everyone is doing well as we come to the end of Jan, look forward to seeing some updated totals soon!

  • I think I will stick to just the three totals - people could always put each months total in their sig or keep a seperate record. I think it might get a bit confusing with all those numbers and colours! Also that way as and when new people join the challenge throughout the year they can soon get involved and not feel like they have missed out as there will only ever be one months overpayment then the total showing.

Is anyone else twiddling their thumbs waiting for payday next Thur?:rotfl:
